EXTERIORS – 4
The Dzire now gets aggressive styling from last generation and now we get the Aston martin style grille in the front with tear drop shaped Headlamp cluster which consists of projector lamps , DRL’s and the fog lamps are now covered with chrome lines .
Moving to the side , Dzire now gets pronounced wheel arches and cleaner shoulder lines which go up till the boot lid . The rear tail lamps are now led ones rather than the conventional bulbs in the last generation Dzire . Overall the car is a good looking package with 15 inches non – machined alloys in the ZXI Trim and sloping bonnet which gives it an amazing look
The interiors of the New generation Dzire are dual tone with a combination of beige and black and faux wood inserts around the dashboard which look quite upmarket from last generation .
The steering wheel is flat bottom one now with audio controls and Bluetooth controls for the infotainment system . The steering comes with faux wood insert and leather wrapped in the ZXI trim which gives it quite sporty feel and weighs just right .
The main dash is now tilted slightly towards the driver for the ease of convenience and operation
UTILITY AND COMFORT -4
The car comes with lots of cup holders and storage spaces but Dzire still misses on a hand rest which is needed now on most of the cars and one more negative for the car is a pretty small glove box and is good only for few small items . The Dzire comes with great infotainment system as standard with good quality speakers for a normal teenager or any person in general .
The car now comes equipped with rear ac vent and an 12v power socket for added convenience and now the dzire is even wider than ever before , it is 5 mm more wider than the ciaz that converts into better room space for 3 adults at the rear .
PERFORMANCE AND FUEL EFFICIENCY – 4
The petrol Maruti Suzuki Dzire engine remains the same 1.2-litre motor that makes 82 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. The big mechanical change in the new generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire though is the addition of the petrol engine with the AMT gearbox in addition to the normal 5-speed manual. Comparatively, the older Swift Dzire had a 4-speed conventional automatic and not the new AMT unit as the diesel had. The AMT unit in the Dzire petrol is the same one that the Ignis petrol AMT gets but with a retune towards a more comfortable and smoother shift pattern.
Unlike the diesel, there is a bit more of the shift nod phenomenon between gears at lower revs. But the gearbox does seem to have no shift shock or sudden shifting between gears though and the petrol revs as freely with the AMT as with the manual gearbox. Just like with the diesel though, the addition of a sports mode would have made the Dzire petrol automatic a much nicer car to drive as compared to how it currently is. That said, we did test both the AMTs on a hilly road with quite a steep incline and although there is no official hill hold or hill start assist, the gearbox does stop the car from rolling backwards after abou a foot or so and holds the car in place till you use the throttle to move forward again. The fuel economy figure on the petrol automatic is 22.0 kmpl which again, is identical to the one you can get on the manual gearbox option.
